Lots of smiles

First Hair Cut

BEFORE:

At the age of 2 yrs & 3 months, we decided that it was finally time for Jacob's first hair cut. Daddy took him to daddy's barber, Joe. "Just like papa Joe" I told Jacob. Jacob was very well behaved and it was all done in no time at all, with no tears thankfully... from him anyway.

AFTER:
In case you're concerned, all of his curls reappeared immediately after his next bath.

Chanukah - First Night

Jacob has been talking about and wishing for a train table for months now, ever since he saw one in a Barnes and Noble.... Tonight he got his very own. Ideally I would have snapped a picture with him looking at the camera, only problem is that he didn't look up from the time we first showed to him until bedtime. I think he likes it.

Here's a few pre-snow pictures...

We'll head out and enjoy the elements tomorrow. The snow day, for this non-essential state employee, allowed for some time to review some photos that have been sitting on my camera for a while.

Talk Talk Talk Talk

Jacob talks A LOT!
Last night Alyson and I were outside Jacob's room after we had put him down, he was just talking to his 'guys' (elmo et al), at one point i heard him say " Yeahhhh, english muffin pizza.... cream cheese". We both burst out laughing. By the way, that's exactly what he had for dinner about 2 hours prior.
We can't say anything in front of him that we don't want parroted back at us... Which brings me to one of his new favorite words... Diarrhea.

Rough week

Would you beleive that in the course of a week this household has
endured not one, or two, but three ear infections!? Jacob battled
through 2 of them, fever of up to 104.2, and (so far) 3 dr visits.
Mommy has the 3rd ear infection. Shockingly painful in adults from
what i'm told... backed up by the prescribed narcotics. Kudos to Dr.
Aaron Tword & the Mass Eye and Ear ER, we were in and out of there in
just over 2 hours. Now, hopefully, mommy is well ok her road to
recovery.

Bah-bye binkie

Tonight is the first night thatvee have tried putting Jacob down with
out a pacifier. He resisted (mildly) at first, then fell asleep, with
his head on his pillow! So far so good.

Boo! Happy Halloween

Jacob's first experience 'trick or treating' was a big success. In other words, he got lots of candy for daddy.

We walked around our neighborhood... me and 'monkey George'... i was the man with the yellow hat, my costume was not nearly as good as his, so you won't find a picture of me.

Theo didn't enjoy Halloween quite as much... possibly because he found out that he was wearing his big brother's circa 2006 costume.

Jacob and Janie

We all went to the park on Friday and met up with Janie, her little sister Jessie and their mom Stephanie.  Jacob and Janie were very busy watching a tractor filling a truck with dirt on the baseball field next to the playground.   Jacob spent the rest of our time there running up and down the ramps and taking an occasional slide... hope we can squeeze in a couple more trips to the park before old man winter blows in.

Fresh out of the bath!

Here is Theo, right after his bath with his stylish hairdo. This is Mommy's first posting which is exciting. Unfortunately I cant come up with Zachs witty banter. Theo is relieved he wont be fasting tomorrow.

Apple Picking

We went apple picking this weekend. Jacob enjoyed himself, he was a very efficient apple picker, however, he had trouble with the 'don't waste apples' rule. If the apple was within his reach he picked it, sampled it... and then spiked it to the ground. Jacob's friend Elektra and her family joined us for the trip to Sherborn and for lunch as well.

Back to the crib

Who can name the character on the TV behind Jacob? Extra credit if you can name the proprietor of the restaurant in front of which the character is standing.

I'll have the answers next time.

Per the title, Jacob has reverted to his crib. We're not sure why, but right now, he's simply not interested in the 'big boy bed'.
Oh well.

Where are the blankies?

Not the best picture of me, but you're not looking at this blog for pictures of me. I've posted this photo because I've decided that this is the new 'blogging position' for me. Serves a couple purposes; fantastic bonding time, and it keeps him warm and quiet.

While Theo is sleeping on me, Jacob is sleeping in his 'big boy bed'!!! He's actually slept through the night in there for the last 3 nights, I was hesitant to mention it for fear of 'jinxing' it. We've had the bed set up in his new room for months now. It wasn't until the night before his first day of school that he decided that he wanted to give the bed a try. It started off slowly, that first night at 2am he decided it was time to go back to the crib. Next night, he made it all the way to 5am, which by the way is the new official wake-up time for both of my boys... not ideal.

Speaking of not ideal... I may have mentioned that Jacob 'needs' 2 blankies to fall asleep, a fact he reminds us of every time we put him down. Well, this afternoon we couldn't find any of them. (we had two back-ups but one of the originals has disappeared). I searched everywhere, I was under beds, in closets, opened every drawer of every dresser... no dice. As a last ditch effort, for some reason I decided to check Jacob's diaper pail... Jackpot. The kid had hid all three of them in there. I guess this is a sign of the tricks he's going to pull now that he's not trapped in a crib all night. I also think that we'll need to check through the diapers before taking the bag out to the garage... So I've got that to look forward to.

So this is my brother...

Big brother Jacob came to see Theo in the hospital. The visit was great. Jacob didn't pay a whole lot of attention to the 'new guy' but he did take a moment out of his busy afternoon to get to know Theo... I think they'll get along just fine... like Micah and I did years ago.

Pahkah!

Jacob really loves him some Pahkah. He loves Maxwell too, but calls him Park. We had a great time in Maine with all the cousins and Nana and Papa.

That was likely our last trip to Maine as a family of 3.

Little Man in Little Rhodey

Here are some more pictures taken on our trip to Rhode Island last weekend.

By they way, although not entirely apparent in the photo shown here, we do feed this kid, frequently.

The Beach

This picture was taken in Rhode Island while Jacob and his old man were visiting Bubbe and Zaide at the beach. I've made the mistake of making this photo the background of my computer at my new office... I'll need to change it if I'm going to get any work done.

Wedding

No, not these two. Jacob heard something about a wedding. This picture shows Jacob's mommy and daddy at Auntie Aimee and Uncle Micah's wedding. Jacob was not in attendance. He spent the weekend with Nana and Papa in Boston. We had a ton of fun, eventually I may put some more pictures up here, but for now thats that.

Frightening.

DO NOT, under any circumstances, allow Jacob to see this picture. Clearly this is a vicious wild animal that could attack at any moment... Ok so the kid is very afraid of elephants. We're not sure what the fear is all about, he is not brave. He doesn't like bugs very much either. At least with bugs he'll usually say, 'bye bye bug' where with the elephant he just says "NOOO NOOO" over and over again while digging his fingers into who ever is close by.

Survey says....

Jacob tipped the scales at 24lbs, 7oz last week. It may not seem like much but its enough that we (jacob's pediatrician) are no longer worried about his ability to eat. We think its likely due in large part to his love of hot dogs... or pronounced in Jacob as "ought dah!" He recommends Pearl brand, country club Franks.

Tennis Pro

Jacob heard that his Uncle Ross recently became an officially licensed tennis pro... Jacob still thinks he could beat Ross in straight sets (while holding blankie and elmo).

Banner 17

Jacob was very excited that the Celtics joined the winning ways of all the other teams... HERE ARE.. a few pictures that his dad took while hanging out of his office window. Note the police in riot gear, bet you didn't see them on the news.
